Dozens of journalism students from MAST @ FIU who are working on the eyesontherise.org project with students from Florida International University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication took to the FIU campus earlier this semester to find new ways of looking at nature.
Eyesontherise.org faculty members are launching the next phase of our project — presenting research related to curriculum, communication, and climate change.
Some of our research has been selected for presentation at the International Environmental Communication Association‘s 2015 Conference on Communication and Environment in Boulder in June 2015. The conference theme fits our research perfectly — Bridging Divides: Spaces of Scholarship and Practice in Environmental Communication.
As a way to start sharing the work of the Online News Association’s 2014-2015 Challenge Fund for Innovation in Journalism Education projects, the PBS website MediaShift’s EducationShift featured eyesontherise.org and the lessons we continue to learn. Read the piece here.
Florida International University School of Journalism and Mass Communication students, along with roughly 100 high school students from MAST @ FIU, spent an hour in a question-and-answer period with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency General Counsel Avi Garbow at FIU on Dec. 4. Along with Associate Deputy General Counsel Marna McDermott, Garbow discussed issues of climate change[…]
