About VirtualEYES

VirtualEYES highlights the interdisciplinary work of students, staff, and faculty involved in projects surrounding eyesontherise.org, a community-based initiative to create science communication and journalism related to changing environments of South Florida, including sea level rise. eyesontherise.org was founded with a $35,000-grant from the Online News Association.

Work from the Mobile Virtual Reality Lab -- headed by Florida International University professors, Robert Gutsche, Jr. (Team Lead), Juliet Pinto, Michael Sheerin, and Elizabeth Marsh in the School of Communication and Journalism -- fuels the bulk of the work presented on VirtualEYES. The Mobile Virtual Reality Lab was funded with nearly $20,000 from the FIU School of Communication + Journalism and supported, in part, by various funds and initiatives, including a 2016 seed grant awarded by FIU's College of Communication, Architecture + The Arts.
